Walking routes
The spa town of Meran/Merano is famous for its sunny walking routes all year round. Our tip: Take the well-marked Sissiweg if you fancy walking from the historic city centre to the famous Gardens of Castle Trauttmansdorff.
Promenades
The spa promenade, winter promenade and summer promenade are some of the most popular in Meran/Merano. The Tappeinerweg is one of the most beautiful high mountain promenades in Europe and offers Alpine, Mediterranean and exotic vegetation, as well as breath-taking views over Meran/Merano.
Knottn cinema (1,465 metres)
Enjoy a hiking trip to the Knottn cinema (1,465 metres) at the Rotsteinkogel mountain. From there, you have fantastic views towards the Etsch/Adige Valley, the Texel, Penegal and Weisshorn mountains. 30 robust chairs made of steel and chestnut wood invite you to sit down and rest. Nature turns into a magnificent cinematic scene.
Paths along the irrigation channels
Meran/Merano’s surroundings is famous for its irrigation channel trails. Once used for irrigation, today these water lanes run through idyllic surroundings and give you refreshment on your tour. The Meran/Merano irrigation channel circular route can be walked all year round. It connects 11 separate irrigation channel trails with each other.
Vigiljoch mountain
The Vigiljoch mountain is a traffic-free mountain near Lana. By chairlift, it can be reached within seven minutes and offers you a true natural idyllic scene.
Alpine meadows
Hiking regions around Meran/Merano offer you a great variety of Alpine meadows with rustic mountain refuge huts. An Alpine hiking trip, where you can enjoy a meal and typical South Tyrolean snack. Something to remember for a long time!
